Megayacht - Pelorus
Tuesday’s “lets look at all the fun shit I could never possibly afford week” and its time to go nautical. Now boats are something I know a little bit about so hopefully I can sort out the lemons from the gems.
Now to get me from A to B in style and with all my fun little tenders, sport fishing boats, jet skis and associated toys, I’ll be needing a big nice fuck off motoryacht. Getting one of these puppies built from scratch can take several years. So if you’re after some fun in the Mediterranean sun in a jiffy, the best bet is to find a broker and purchase a secondhand motoryacht and refit it to your tastes and style. Unless, hanging around for 5 to 10 years is your cup of tea. Motoryachts are one of the few millionaire toys that can hold onto their asset value. Indeed, Greg Norman apparently sold his Aussie Rules at a net profit. This is purely because of the large lag time between commissioning and the delivery of a megayacht.
Now time to go shopping. If I had my pick of the bunch, I’d be buying Pelorus. She’s not the biggest of the megayachts (I believe Octopus still holds that title) but in my opinion she’s one of the most beautiful creations to grace the water. Pelorus has an overall length of 114m and cabins for up to 18 guests and 40 crew.Exactly what is on this masterpiece is kept under lock and key for security reasons. Nonetheless, stylist interior and modern amenities can certainly be expected.
