Jean Paul Gautier designed champagne bottle
Everyone likes having champagne - though I'd imagine it has less to do with the actual drink and more with the idea of celebration.
A neighbor once said to me that he thought it was a great thing to celebrate things, birthdays, anniversaries and the like, because people rarely take the time to enjoy life.
It's a funny idea... after all, we are a generation of adults that love to be self-involved, preferring to whittle our time away in a bar or club, rather than sitting down with our family.
But I can understand the sentiment. Being out in the pub, it feels so impersonal and normal, like the pub is a natural extension of your own living room, with the added benefit of having someone else clean up. Even drinking with your mates isn't really anything special, as you probably do it every weekend.
Popping a cork on a good bottle of champagne, though, adds a little bit of sparkle to an otherwise forgettable evening... these bottles designed by Jean Paul Gautier are something else, a collector's item.
Should they have been drunk? Or saved for a higher price?
The owner of this bottle drank the contents with glee, I imagine, selling the bottle for $30.
