Boxing Day Sales
Thousands of people now spend Boxing Day morning in queues outside department stores, waiting to be the first to dive for the sales racks as soon as the doors open. Here's a look at various shoppers going mad over bargain items.
These chicks are behaving like a flock of vultures over a carcass. Pulling over every last salvagable scrap until there's nothing left.
I checked out the sales this morning in Sydney's CBD and was horrified by the shear number of bargain hunters that were out in force this year cramming through the doors of the major retail giants at Myers and David Jones.
I shudder to think at what time shoppers started lining up outside the doors of the city stores, suffice to say I wandered over at 7am when the shops were advertised for opening and the crowds were pressed to the glass.
What were the big sales items? It seemed that just about all areas were chocker block with shoppers. The electrical goods and whitegoods section were pretty packed. It seemed flat screen tvs, fridges, dryers and washing machines were on the new years wish list of may Sydneysiders. There was also a flock of women about every stall of womens shoes. No matter how ghastly the shoe, the mere fact that it was at some insanely reduced price warranted purchasing it.
The post Christmas Sales have made me consider encouraging our family to put off the celebration of Christmas until the Orthodox date which falls on January 7th. I feel exceedingly ripped off by the notion of extreme sales right after I've just paided inflated prices for an excessive number of gifts.
