I had a friend go to Japan when we were in high school... when she came back, she regaled us with disturbing stories of how young girls could sell their panties to rich businessmen.

I didn't understand it - what were these men doing with the panties? Wearing them? Constructing a gigantic silk and cotton sail? Using them as pick-up football jerseys

Old school rocking horse for sale

When I had to go toy shopping recently for a gift (for a 7 year-old boy), I came to the conclusion that kids today were just plain spoilt, not necessarily by parents but rather, the advancement in technology and the vast array of toys, gadgets on offer.

I still remember the good old days when me and my mates could spend hours playing marbles, matchbox cars and getting into some mischief with our He-Man swords. While I'm sure some of these traditional pastimes will never go out of fashion with young kids - just like ever popular matchbox cars - I think most of these things would be cast aside for the Nintendo DS's, web-shooting Spiderman gloves and Ironman 'jet-packs', just to name a few
