Reefer Madness

I've seen snippets of Reefer Madness on the internet and it always seems to find its way into an assortment of drug related documentaries and mockumentaries. Recently I watch the entire movie. Now you too can own your own copy on DVD.

Need a cheap holiday?

I found this auction on eBay Australia for a one night getaway in a caravan near Grafton in NSW. The auction has opened at $1 and there is no reserve with little apparent interest from other bidders. This is an oppertunity to nab a rediculously cheap adventure getaway over a weekend. Sure its no glamour location but where's the sense of adventure?

Collectable Antique National Cash Register

This is a pretty cool and unusual item I saw whislt flipping through the Australian eBay site. It is an old school cash register. It seems to be in some sort of working order and is a tribute the the times when things were all mechanised rather than electronic.

Plasma TV’s

Ah, the joy of a plasma TV. I just upgraded my old crapbox for new lushious plasma screen and am in love with it. Once you get a plasma, watching any program on a regular TV is just murder on the eyes. Even the blue screen of blankness looks better on a plasma. These are a few plasma’s that are currently offered on eBay and well worth a look. I’ve compared them to regular retail prices.

Garage Sale Tips

Tip #9

If you are worried about purchasing chipped or cracked glassware or delicate items, use a cotton ball and run it around the rim and surface of the item. The cotton ball will catch on any surface nicks or chips which will make it a lot easier to pick up any defects your eye may have missed. If you’re short on the cotton balls always make sure you run a finger around the rim of any glasses, vases plates etc, to make sure you don’t buy anything that could be dangerous to use.

Sunglasses - Oakley

Just because its winter doesn’t mean that your eyes don’t need protection. There’s a whole host of bargains available on eBay in terms of sunglasses which means that you can purchase designer brands at reduced prices. I’ve always had a tendence of sitting/stomping or falling on any pair of designer sunglasses I purchase. Infact, the more expensive they are, the quicker I tend to break or loss them. So, I figure that I’ve I’ve managed to buy them at a fraction of the retail price, well, I only need to feel fracionally bad about busting them.

There are some very unusual styles coming out. As ever, Oakley has some bizarre new sunnies.

Garage Sale Hunting Tips

Tip #5

They always say the early bird get the worm, but this isn’t always true. If you’ve slept in, don’t think heading to a garage sale later in the day is going to be waste of time. Towards the later stages of a garage sale, owners are more open to bargaining and dropping their prices just to get rid of their stock before the end of the day. There is more of a chance that any of the really prized possessions would be sold earlier in the day, but you never know your luck with heading down later in the day.

Record King

If you are in search of a rare, out of print or secondhand record or book, look no further than Record King located in Wollongong. These guys stock a great range of secondhand and rare vinyls (LPs and 45s) of the rock’n’roll and pop legends of Australian and International notoriety. They also represent some of the newer groups of the regional Wollongong and southern coast NSW areas. The online vinyl catalogue features artists ranging in genres including rock, pop, folk, country, reggae, punk, new wave. Their coverage of Australian artists is commendable especially the representation of classic Aussie bands such as the Sunnyboys, Icehouse, Matt Finish, Renee Geyer, The Angles, Chrissy Amphlett (The Devinyls), Air Supply and many more.

Australian Jazz also gets a great representation from Record King. Artists stocked include Don Burrows, Golapagos Duck, Michael Franks, Margaret Roadknight, Ton baker Quartet and Marie Wilson.
